I am not one to write reviews, but I feel like I could sell this toilet I like it so much.I have always wanted a Kohler for their beauty and style, but for a long time, their flushing technology wasn't the best, so I didn't buy. TOTO toilets are fabulous and I wanted one for their power flush, but didn't want to pay $400 for a Japanese toilet. Then Kohler came out with the Class 6 flush. This toilet is perfect in so many ways: it is beautiful, stylish, easy to install with quick and super-effective flush - uses a surprisingly small amount of water - completely cleans the bowl (and needs cleaning less often as a result) and takes MUCH less water than my old toilet! I mean, how often can you say all of that about one thing?! It came as a package, toilet, seat, waxring, bolts and washers in the box. One washer was missing which sent me to the hardware store, otherwise was a simple install.Life must be getting pretty crazy that something this simple could make my day, but hey - here it is....Put simply, this toilet makes me happy. Everywhere I go, I am actually thrilled at my choice. You know how it is - you never know how a machine will really perform until you see it in action, and how can you see a toilet in action when it's in the showroom? I took the salesman's word for it and bought. It happens every day - I'm reminded of this win - I see other toilets and feel great that I have a champ - a quietly beautiful, stylish, workhorse water conserver. I brag on it everywhere. I didn't so much want the taller toilet, but I tell you, I am so happy with this purchase. This toilet really performs, is beautiful and it's mine! 🙂

I had an issue with my 8 year old Gerber toilets always clogging with any solids. Got tired of cleaning mess after mess so I was on the hunt for a toilet that would actually flush solid waste. I chose the Cimarron based on price and reviews and availability. I purchased at Lowe's for $234.00. I took the recommendation of another reviewer and bought my own wax ring. I bought a jumbo. Here is my summationPros:2 1/8" waste pipe diameter makes it hard to clogToilet seat height is 2" tallerClass 6 flush valve gets water to bowl quicklyComes with seat (seat is quiet close and will not slam) which is great for kidsTank mounting bracket is slick design, less penetrations in bottom of tank, less likely to leakCons:Toilet base had to be shimmed, rocked front to back after install, I used penniesSeat height not for everyoneBecause of the added height you may need to replace your water line, mine went from 7" to 10"cheap wax ring had no plastic insert

Replacing a 60-year old round, regular American Standard, the comfort height can't be beat. Those extra two inches of height make all the difference in the world. Surprisingly powerful at only 1.6 gallons per flush. I was a little skeptical about the 1.6 gallon thing, coming from a loud, long-filling water-hog last-century model, but this is quick, quiet, fast-filling, powerful. Used to have to flush several times with the old one to make everything "go away." With the Kohler, one flush and you're done, so to speak. No extras floating around (bits of toilet tissue or "other" debris). Possibly not the best choice for a very small bathroom because of the elongated design, but for the comfort and efficiency, small price to pay for those few extra inches. Nice looking piece with the small tank. Easy to get behind and clean. The old tank was so large and close to the wall that cleaning behind it was impossible without improvising and contortions. Do recommend the easy-closing toilet seat: KOHLER K-4636-0 Cachet Quiet-Close Elongated Toilet Seat. No more slamming lid. Flip the lid, walk away, no slam.

PROS:
  • Comfort height for easier access
  • AquaPiston canister for powerful, effective flush
  • Leak free performance

CONS:
  • Toilet base might need a little shimmying to sit in place

I purchased two of these toilets from Home Depot (free shipping) based on the high recommendation in Consumer Reports and have not been disappointed. I used them to replace two 1.6 gpf toilets, which were OK, but clogged too often in our household. The bottom line is that this Kohler low-flow toilet works great. We've had them installed for over two months now and they have performed flawlessly. No clogs, excellent bowl rinsing, fast and quiet. This is a gravity 1.28 gpf toilet that works, and I highly recommend it.Read on for installation and function details.I did my own installation. The problems I encountered during the installation were due to my home, not the toilet, so if your flange is in good shape, installation should be easy. The one thing you might want to check is whether the connector from the wall to the toilet will be long enough. This toilet has a higher seat (Comfort Height as they call it) which makes the distance from the wall to the tank a few inches further if your old toilet is a standard height. I had to replace my connectors with ones that have a longer hose. Also, don't be worried by the fact the bowl says that it is for "1.6 gallons per flush or less." It works with both 1.6 and 1.28 gpf tanks.

This toilet is highly rated by Consumer Reports and by my plumber. After having toilets made in the early days of the government's 1.6 gallon standard, I really appreciate the cleanliness and lack of clogging of this toilet. It is also fairly quiet. One of the best toilets made. It is less expensive at Home Depot, however.

I never thought I would write a review about a toilet. I'll keep it brief. We installed a 1.6 gal Universal Rundle toilet in a new bathroom about 10 years ago. I hated it. It ended up using more water than a conventional toilet because I always had to flush it twice (this may be too much information, but I would have to flush it as soon as my first deposit hit the water to avoid having the toilet becoming clogged and backing up). I have tried my best to plug up this new toilet with major morning contributions and wads of TP but it doesn't seem to care. How it does this with 1.28 gal is a mystery to me. If you're like me, you'll actually end up wasting water at first because, like the cat in the YouTube video, I like to watch it flush ([...]). Two things I wish I had known: The toilet is higher and sticks out farther from the wall than our old toilet. If you have the space and you don't mind sitting a little higher, you can't go wrong with this toilet.

After living for over 20 years with our old, large tank toilet, we finally decided to change it out for a modern low-volume unit. After considerable research online, and talking with our local Plumber, we decided that this Kohler unit would both fit the available space, as well as perform well. It was between this unit and a similar one from American Standard, and we chose the Kohler mostly because we've been pleased with our other Kohler plumbing fixtures over time. This unit did not disappoint. The low volume of water, coupled with the high-velocity dump valve, is absolutely amazing how well it works. Immediately dispelled any lingering desires to still have that huge volume of water for flushing that we were used to. Now that we've seen our first water bill since we changed this, we can see an immediate cost savings. The ONLY drawback we found at all is the fact that the sheer velocity of water movement caused some additional 'negative pressure' in our recently -upgraded sanitary drains, and we had to also install an additional automatic-vent in the tub drain nearby to prevent the toilet flushing from trying to draw water out of the tub trap !! Now, everything seems to work fine ! Highly recommended product from Kohler.

Over the past 3 years I have had 18 of these Kohler Cimarron toilets installed for my customers who had previous clogging problems. ALL still rave that their clogging days are over! I was impressed enough to put one in my own home and find it to be a great product. This is a very good price for peace of mind.A must-have to go with it is the slow-close lid. (KOHLER K-4639-0 Cachet Quiet-Close Round-Front Toilet Seat, White) No more hearing the lid slam when it closes. Also comes in an elongated version.

I purchased two Kohler cimmaron comfort height toilets. Nine months after the purchase and installation I got a phone call from the city telling me my water meter was spinning out of control and I had used 55,000 gallons of water in less than 30 days!!! I normally use under 2000 gallons. The problem was a flawed and defective fill valve. There had been no sound of running water and no movement in the bowl or the tank, unlike a traditional flapper type toilet and as everything happens inside a virtually closed valve, I had no way of knowing it was running. My water bill came to over $700.00!!!! I am senior and living on a fixed income and this is devastating. Lowe's replaced the toilets with American Standard after the plumber warned me Kohler have a lot of problems. Along with getting a guarantee refund from Kohler, Lowe's put a lot of effort into negotiating with Kohler to compensate me for the excess water bill which was due entirely to the faulty product. I have documentation to back up the amount in excess beyond my regular water bill which averages $20 per month. Kohler refused. As a result, Lowe's went above and beyond, offering me $200 to help towards my loss, something they did not have to do as they had fulfilled their guarantee obligations. Avoid Kohler unless you want to risk a similar outcome. Defective product, total lack of concern for their customers. I'd give a negative star rating if it was possible.

  • This Kohler Cimarron toilet meets strict EPA flushing guidelines

Because of the weird bowel opening at the bottom of the bowl this toilet cannot be plunged. It took forty minutes, no joke, to unlcog this toilet after it stopped up. I literally got a workout doing it and I suppose the clogged up toilet paper eventually brokedown and allowed the toilet to flush.I called Kohler about this and they said it's a known issue, yet they were not smart enough to fix it. The new Cimarron and similar models have the very same issue. Kohler suggested a special type of plunger which we bought and paid extra money for yet it also could not plunge the toilet. Aside from this whenever anything gets caught on the sides of the bowel, it will not flush because of the way the toilet is designed. We are getting rid of this toilet and I cannot wait to flush this toilet in a dumpster--goodbye Kohler!

I bought two of these units about 10 years ago shortly before my wife had total knee replacement surgery. The seat height is about 3" higher than a standard toilet, and although only a bit higher, made a huge difference in her ability to get on/off of it. She had her other knee replaced a few months ago, was happy we didn't have a standard-height toilet. I have a bit of arthritis in my knees & hips, and it's a big help for me too - less pain. We're both on the short end of the scale height-wise, but still have no problem keeping our feet flat on the floor. Both toilets came with a slow-close, easy-off seat that did not have rubber bumpers under them. The slow-close feature is great when making those middle-of-the-night trips to relieve a full bladder. Simply pull the lid over to start its descent, and walk away from it. It closed quietly and I didn't have to handle the bottom of the seat. On one of the toilets, I became a bit impatient, and often pushed the seat down. The slow-close feature deteriorated, although it never became fast enough to slam. But because there were no rubber bumpers under it, there was a noticeable noise when the seat/lid contacted the toilet rim. The 2nd toilet still closes quietly. I've noticed that replacement seats now have rubber bumpers. The easy-off feature is nice too - just lift the hinged nut covers and gently pull the seat forward to remove it. Then it can be put in a sink or tub and thoroughly cleaned, and after drying, slid back into place on the toilet and with the nut covers pushed back into place.Read more ›

This toilet has the best flushing performance I've come across. I've had several different models in different houses, from American standard, Duravit and Toto. This one is the best of them all. Better than Toto G-Max that I have in another bathroom. It's true that the shape of the bowl is not round which in theory may be difficult to plunge. However I never had to plunge it yet and I use it with flushable kitty litter with multiple cats all the time. It flushes almost any load in one go, fairly unbelievable actually. Being one piece it's I have 3 units in the house and none of them had any problems.

PROS:
  • Makes use of gravity for a more efficient flush
  • Uses less water than traditional units
  • Leak free performance due to installation process

CONS:
  • Some customers claim this Kohler Cimarron toilet is quite difficult to plunge, but it rarely gets clogged anyway

Initially thought it was great until it started flushing on its own . Came home and heard the toilet flush upstairs. Thought there was a burglar in the house and almost called the police. It just kept flushing and flushing on its own. At 4:30 in the morning it was doing it every minute until we finally figured out how to get it to stop since we didn't install it ourselves. Turns out Kohler knows about this problem and supposedly has a fix. Why didn't they recall them and put the fix in the initial box instead of making you go through this. They won't overnight the fix . Make you wait 3 to 5 days to receive it. Told my husband if this doesn't work out it goes. We've had a Moen kitchen faucet with touchless technology for over a year. Initially had a problem at the time of installation with the battery pack. They overnighted the fix ( great customer service ) and works great with no problem for over a year now. .

Worst toilet ever. I have had it for about 16 months. Had issues with the flushing first. Phantom flushes. Still does it occasionally but not as bad. Then, the thing barely flushes. The plumber told me that it was a poorly designed toilet and raised the water level to help. Now, it won’t flush at all. It just beeps back at us. More trouble than it is worth. Have the Delta version in our other bath and it is much better and cheaper.

PLEASE READ THIS!!! I bought this toilet because I had another Kohler Cimmaron (pre-touchless) and it has worked perfectly for 5 years. When replacing another toilet I loved the idea of the touchless and looked at the reviews. At that time, there weren't many negative, mostly positive. This was probably because it was a newer product and hadn't failed, or people hadn't gotten frustrated enough to write a negative review. Our case is textbook. We installed the toilet in fall of 2014. It worked flawlessly for about three months, then either wouldn't flush or phantom flushed continuously. The tank lid has had more time off the toilet, than on. We have gotten replacement parts from Kohler 4 times. I have replaced batteries (too many times to count), adjusted the height of the unit and applied some pads to underside of tank lid to reduce water from dripping on unit (phantom flushing, but this prevented toilet from flushing at all). I am a pretty persistent person, so felt like there was a solution, other than my husband's suggestion to replace tank with the conventional one. GOOD NEWS!!!! While waiting (2 weeks) for my new parts from Kohler, I read a review on Amazon (many thanks to this reviewer) with a solution to the phantom flushing and it worked!!! THE RESOLUTION IS SIMPLE: REMOVE TANK LID, PUT A PIECE OF PLASTIC WRAP OVER TOP OF TANK (it will barely fit width wise), MAKE HOLES IN PLASTIC WRAP TO PREVENT FROM IT GETTING SUCKED INTO TOILET (I did this from the center of the tank and towards the left, away from the flushing unit), PUT THE TANK LID BACK ON (then I tucked the plastic wrap up, so it wasn't visible). I AM THRILLED TO REPORT THAT THE TOILET IS WORKING PERFECTLY AND HAS BEEN FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. I will update, if the situation changes...

I recently had a Kohler Cimmaron Comfort-Height Elongated toilet installed in my house, and so far we're very pleased with it.Likes:* Comfort height seating: the extra height is more forgiving to people with back and/or knees difficulties.* Class 5 Flush & Wide clog-free outlet: say goodbye to the plunger because chances are high you won't need it anymore.* Quiet: It operates quietly (although it does tend to 'chug' a bit at the end of a flush), and it has a quiet slow-close lid, which prevents noisy lid clatter.* One piece construction makes cleaning a cinch (fewer crevices), and gives the toilet an elegant appearance.* Quick-release seat: no more fiddling underneath the toilet in order to remove the seat ... just lift the catch, squeeze the release, and off comes the seat for easy cleaning or replacement.Minor Nits:* The in-sloped seat is a very slightly uncomfortable, but tolerable.* I wish the toilet flush volume were a bit more adjustable. It comes set for 1.6, but can only be changed to 1.4. It'd be nice if you could increase it to, say, 1.8 or 2.0 if you wanted to. The toilet flushes fast and quietly, but it seems to cry out for just a slightly larger volume of flush water.Recommended. A tad pricey, but worth it. Also, as with all all merchandise, it pays to shop around ... I got mine for under $400.

I feels so good to be flushing with so little water. The only way to flush with less would be dual flush and that's more complicated should it need to be repaired. I don't feel it needs more water to flush. In an instant it's empty. I've been living with it for a year now. The best toilet I've ever lived with!

I like that this toilet is taller than normal toilets. I purchased it from the Amazon seller, not a 3rd party if that matter. It includes everything from the picture, including the wax ring and screws which go into the flange (does not include flange if you need yours replaced)The "rough in" should be more like 10.5" (distance between the screw and the very back of the toilet). It was labelled 12" so I have a 1.5" gap between the tank and my wall. Not a big deal, but in case people have a smaller rough in and wondering if they can fit this in.Some reviews said there isn't any water that goes on the side of the bowl, this is not true. I find water goes everywhere, except its just not as strong on the side. Its strong enough if toilet paper is on the side to push down, but if you happen to be angled weird and your #2 ends up on the dry side, it may take a couple flushes for it to come clean. If all your waste ends in the water, it will completely be flushed away the 1st try.I also could not install the toilet seat perfect straight to the bowl as another review has mentioned. Its slightly off when tightening it. Not a deal breaker, but just a minor aesthetic nuisance.

We had a big box store install one of these about a month ago. It replaced the ugliest dark green non solids passing Mansfield in the house. This Cimarron flushes everything without a problem. It uses a lot less water and has a great swirling bowl rinse that cleans the bowl. Our only complaint so far is the height is uncomfortable for shorter folks. It comes with all you need in the box. I would use a sani seal vs. the wax ring though. Sani Seal Waxless Toilet Gasket It works and wax is more difficult to install properly and fails. So far its a good toilet, the plunger is retired and no more flooded floor.

We bought this due to reviews on quality and flush ability. Unfortunately it arrived poorly packed and broken both in the bowl and the tank. we quickly returned it which was done quickly and easily which is why I gave it 2 stars. Next the second toilet showed up and again it was clearly broken. I guess some how amazon can not ship toilets safely.

We have two of these Kohler Cimarron Comfort Height round toilets – one for nearly two years and the second for about four months. We like the comfort height and the seat is comfortable. The low water usage feature is a big plus. However, the design of this toilet has caused a couple of problems. Since there is a small amount of water sitting in the bowl, the toilet becomes dirty very easily after use. Also, one of the toilets has become clogged twice after attempting to process a relatively small quantity of debris, which our 50 year old American Standard toilets would have handled with no problem at all. Considerable work with a plunger was needed to clear these clogs.

We finally got around to replacing our old toilets, and after checking out various brands we decided on the Kohler Cimarron. After installing them I wondered why we waited so long - being on a private well and septic system, the water saving benefit alone is worth it. I am amazed how thoroughly it flushes with such a small amount of water. The comfort height seat - 2" higher than our old Kohlers - will be appreciated as we get older. Being of two-piece construction, installation was quick and easy. I would recommend this unit to anyone without hesitation. Just don't wait forever, like we did.

Well worth the price. It does it's job well, looks good. Built like it will last and simple to maintain. Simple elegant design with no gimmicks to go wrong. Almond color is pricey upgrade but had to match existing bathroom. Price was the same as Home Depot except it ships to my door. Very well packaged in foam with double boxed.

How to Choose the Perfect Toilet?

As we covered earlier, the importance of a good toilet cannot be overstated enough. We have surely come a long way from the unsanitary pit latrines that required a whole village to dig just to enjoy a decent dump. Today, the modern array of toilet suites has more than stepped up with ingenious features, creative styles, unique shapes and penultimate levels of luxury. You’re undoubtedly looking for the perfect toilet for your home. Here are a few tips that will help you along the way.

  • Performance

No matter what brand, type, style or features you choose, in the end, the only thing that matters is how well the Kohler Cimarron toilet actually does the job. No matter how good toilet looks, it is ultimately useless if the complications outweigh the merits. A good toilet should work day in day out without failing, clogging or acting up in any way whatsoever. One of the most crucial things to check for is the MaP rating. The higher it is, the better your toilet will be able to remove solid waste.

  • Design and Style

Toilets typically come in two types. On one hand, you have your one-piece Kohler Cimarron toilet that is a single unit which is seamlessly molded together. As a result, it is expensive but very easy to clean and maintain. On the other hand, you got your two piece Kohler Cimarron toilets. These babies are far much cheaper than the one piece unit but are really far more difficult to assemble and install. In most homes, you will find the typical two-piece with a separate water tank above and the toilet base below.

  • Flushing Technology

Like the pros said, you could have a masterpiece toilet in your bathroom; a throne fit for a king, but once it does not flush, it’s just as good as a water fountain. Did you know that about 2 decades ago, almost all toilets used about 3.5 gallons of water on every single flush? That is absurd and was simply unacceptable; which is why congress drastically reduced this amount to 1.6 gallons in an effort to conserve water. Today, some Kohler Cimarron toilets use amounts far less than this and even have different flushing technologies. However, there are really only two types of flushing. One of them is the traditional, gravity flushing that we all know about. Then there’s the assisted flushing type that uses electricity to move water and waste from the trapway.

  • Space Savers

In a few Kohler Cimarron toilets, you can choose to conveniently hide away the rear part of the toilet. This part is the exposed trap way that often gets in the way and prevents a thorough cleaning. By choosing toilets with either concealed or skirted trapways, you get a Kohler Cimarron toilet with a smooth surface and less protrusion from the wall. Not only does this save you space, but it also makes cleaning you toilet much easier than the other types.

Competition

As always, picking a winner from our top 10 list of most popular Kohler Cimarron toilet will not be easy. While some of the models showed great valor and creativity in their features, others really stood out with their customer friendly prices. For example, the KOHLER K-3489-7 Cimarron Comfort Height Elongated Toilet really made a mark. Just like all other Kohler products, we have come to appreciate their traditional styling of their fantastic collection of toilets. Boasting of class five flushing tech, this incredible, state of the art Kohler Cimarron toilet offers users exceptionally great bulk waste removal. That’s right, you can now say goodbye to the plunger forever.

However, there can only be one winner, and that is the KOHLER Touchless Comfort Height K-6418-0 Cimarron 2-piece 1.28 GPF Elongated Toilet with AquaPiston Flushing. Tired of the old-fashioned, messy, splashy way of flushing? Now, you no longer have to put up with it. With the KOHLER Touchless Comfort Height K-6418-0 Cimarron 2-piece Elongated Toilet in your home, you can now enjoy a more hygienic way to flush. By cleverly combining a performance-driven design and state of the art technology, these Kohler Cimarron toilets actually let you flush without having to lay a finger on them.
